Create Instructional Locations
- Create location attributes for instructional locations using theMaintain Location Attributestask.
- Security:Manage: Locationdomain in the Organizations and Roles functional area.
Create locations for course and activity instruction and specify details such as:
- Location attributes.
- Contact information.
- Owning organization.
- Capacity.
Example: Classroom, Lecture Hall, or Lab.
You can schedule locations for course sections, activity offerings, and scheduled assessments.

- Assign locations to course sections.
- Detect conflicts and overlap course sections.
- As you complete theDetailstab, consider:
Option Description Location AttributesSelect the attributes associated with the location. Examples: Piano, Computers, SMART Board, and ADA-compliance.You can assign the most suitable locations to course sections and activity offerings based on their attributes.Superior LocationThis location becomes subordinate to the location that you select. At least 1 superior location in the location hierarchy must have a location usage ofCampuswhen you create or edit a course or activity. - As you complete theInstructionaltab, consider:
Option Description Owning OrganizationSelect the highest-level academic unit that owns the location.CapacityMaximum number of persons that the location can hold.Instructional Use OnlySelect this check box to use this location for instructional purposes only.
Workday displays instructional locations when you create or edit:
- Course sections.
- Orientation offerings.
- Practical learning offerings.
- Scheduled assessments.
To edit a location, access the
Edit Location
task.
