Concept: Student Accomplishments

Accomplishments are milestones that students achieve to complete their educational objective.
You can track custom student accomplishment types by academic unit and academic level. Some examples of student accomplishments are dissertation, performance, project, and thesis.
When you create a student accomplishment type, you also determine the academic unit and academic level to which the type is associated. The types that you create for an academic unit are then available to apply to any student record associated with that academic unit and to any student record associated with any subordinate academic units in the hierarchy.
For example, if you want a type to be applicable to any student in your institution, create the type at the highest academic unit possible. If you only want a type to be applied to academic records for Business Undergraduates, then create the type on the Business academic unit with the academic level set to Undergraduate.
You can use the:
  • Maintain Student Accomplishment Types
    task (secured to the
    Set Up: Academic Records
domain) to create and maintain custom student accomplishment types by academic unit and academic level.
  • Manage Student Accomplishments
    task (secured to the
    Manage: Student Accomplishments
domain) to add accomplishments to a student record.
  • View Student Accomplishments
    report (secured to the
    Manage: Student Accomplishments
domain) to view a student's accomplishments.
  • View Student Accomplishment Types
    report (secured to the
    Manage: Student Accomplishments
domain) to view student accomplishment types by academic unit and academic level.
Workday also provides the flexibility to configure accomplishments as academic requirements to more accurately reflect a student's academic progress. To create an accomplishment eligibility rule, use the
Create Student Eligibility Rule
task (secured to the
Set Up: Student Eligibility Rules
domain). You configure the number of accomplishments that the student must complete to meet their academic requirements.
Workday maintains accomplishments directly for each academic record. You apply the accomplishment specifically for a student. After the accomplishment is fulfilled, you mark it
Completed
on the
Manage Student Accomplishments
task. Workday marks any academic requirement that you configured to use that accomplishment as
Satisfied
for the student. Workday updates the requirement on the
Academic Progress
report on the student's profile.
Accomplishments can't be:
  • Billed.
  • Graded.
  • Enrolled in.
  • Scheduled.
Workday also enables you to override an academic requirement for an accomplishment. You can use the
Override Academic Requirement for Student
task (secured to the
Academic Requirement Override Event
business process) to submit an academic requirement override for an accomplishment. After the
Academic Requirement Override Event
business process completes, the student no longer has to satisfy that requirement to complete their educational objectives. The
Academic Progress
report displays the
Override
as
Assigned
and the
Requirement
as
Waived
.
