Create Education Test Transfer Credit Rules

  • Create Education Tests. Set up test sections for custom education tests or standardized tests not supported in Workday.
  • Create Courses. Set up the internal courses that transfer students will receive credit for.
  • Security:
    Set Up: Transfer Credit Rules
domain in the Academic Advising functional area.
You can create rules to evaluate transfer credit from education tests, enabling you to:
  • Automate transfer credit evaluation.
  • Make academic advising easier and more effective.
Workday uses these rules for:
  • Transfer credit evaluations for matriculated students, to grant transfer credits from official education test results.
  • Preliminary transfer credit evaluations for prospective students.
  1. Access the
    Create Transfer Credit Rule
    task.
  2. From the
    Transfer Credit Type
    prompt, select
    Education Test
    .
  3. In the
    Choose What to Configure
section, select the level of the academic structure at which you want the rule to apply.
  4. As you complete the task, consider:
    Option Description
    Effective Date
Workday applies the transfer credit rule version that’s effective as of the:
    • First day of the
      Year Taken
      on the AP test results.
    • Test Date
on all other education test results.
    No Internal Equivalent
Select to indicate that the education test section doesn’t have equivalent credit at your institution. When the transfer credit rule applies, Workday doesn’t grant any transfer credits.
You can use this check box to inactivate the transfer credit rule as of the
    Effective Date
. Workday retains the transfer credit you previously awarded using this rule.
    Reasons
Workday only displays reasons configured for the institution of the
    Academic Unit
    .
Example: Select a reason to meet state-mandated reporting requirements for transfer credits.
    Minimum Score
Specify the minimum score that the education test section result must meet to receive transfer credit.
You can specify multiple minimum scores on the rule to grant credit for different internal courses for different minimum scores. Example: On the Math section of the ACT test, a student can receive credit for:
    • MATH 151 Algebra I, when they achieve a minimum score of 20.
    • MATH 152 Algebra II, when they achieve a minimum score of 30.
    Course
When you select multiple internal courses, Workday grants credit for all of them.
    Units to Assign
    Override Default Units
    Workday populates the
    Units to Assign
field with the maximum units value from the course definition.
To assign a different number of units to the course for transfer credit, select the
    Override Default Units
check box and enter a value in the
    Units to Assign
    field.
Example: You can assign fewer units for the same course when the student meets a lower
    Minimum Score
    .
For transfer credit evaluations of official education test results, Workday uses the education test transfer credit rules to grant transfer credit.
You can use the
View Transfer Credit Rules
report to view the transfer credit rules that are currently in effect for an education test.
You can edit or delete a transfer credit rule from the related actions menu of the rule.
