Create Student Grade Elements

  • Configure grading basis values for your institution. See Steps: Set Up Student Grading.
  • Security:
    Set Up: Academic Structure
     domain in the Academic Foundation functional area.
You can:
  • Create the grades available for use in grading schemes at your institution.
  • Specify the grading basis values that can apply to each grade element.
  1. Access the
    Maintain Student Grade Elements
     task.
  2. As you complete the task, consider:
    Option Description
    Institution
    Select the institution for which you would like to configure grade elements.
    Grading Basis
    Select 1 or more grading basis value. The grade becomes available for grading a course section when the grading basis matches the grading basis the student selects for that course section.
    Example: A student registers for a course section and selects the
    Audit
     grading basis. You can grade that course section with grade elements on the applicable grading scheme that have an
    Audit
     grading basis.
    Available for Self Service
    Select the check box to make the grade available to instructors when they grade students.
    When the check box is unchecked, the grade is available to you on the
    Assign Student Grades
     task, but not to instructors. This option is useful for grades such as academic forgiveness or administrative withdrawal.
You can use the grade elements in grading schemes.
