Set Up Course Unit Type Policies

Set Up Course Unit Type Policies

Security:
Set Up: Academic Policies
domain in the Academic Foundation functional area.
You can set up a default course unit type for an academic unit and level. When you create courses for that academic unit and level, Workday populates the unit type with the default course unit type.
You can also specify allowed course unit types that can override the default course unit type.
  1. Access the
    Maintain Course Unit Type Policy
    task.
  2. In the
    Choose What to Configure
section, select the highest level of the academic structure at which you want to configure the policy.
When you configure a policy for a subordinate academic unit, you override the policy inherited from the superior academic unit and level, if applicable.
    You can:
    • Create a new policy or reinherit the policy of the superior academic unit and level, as of the effective date you specify in the
      Choose a Definition
      section.
    • Edit an existing policy, defined by the policy effective date.
  3. Complete the task:
    Option Description
    Default Unit Type
Select the default course unit type for this academic unit and level.
    Allowed Unit Types
Select the course unit types that you can configure for courses instead of the default course unit type.
You can use the
Academic Unit Policy Viewer
report to view the course unit type policy for an academic unit.
To override the default with an allowed course unit type, select
Course Definition
Edit
from the related actions menu of a course.
