Set Up Student Waiver Item Assignments

domain in the Student Financials functional area.
You can assign waivers to students in an academic unit, level, program of study, or program focus.
Academic units and programs of study can inherit waiver item assignments from superior academic units. For subordinate academic units and programs of study, you can define waiver item assignments to assign in addition to the inherited assignments.
Certain events cause waiver item assignments to be assessed during charge assessment. See Reference: Reactions for Student Financials.
  1. Access the
    Maintain Student Waiver Item Assignments
    task.
  2. Select whether to assign waiver payments according to:
    Option Description
    Academic Unit, Academic Level
    Waivers apply to students at this academic unit and academic level, and to students at the same academic level of subordinate units.
    Program of Study, Program Focus
    Waivers apply to students in this program of study or program focus, in addition to waivers inherited from the academic unit and level.
  3. Click
    OK
    .
  4. Select an academic period definition. Workday recommends that you select the standard start date of an academic period for which you want to assign waiver payments.
  5. As you complete the task, consider:
    Option Description
    If
    Select or create the calculation that evaluates a student's eligibility for the waiver when you post it.
    When this field is blank, Workday doesn't:
    • Evaluate any students for the waiver.
    • Post waiver payments associated with the waiver item when you use the
      Assign Student Charges and Waivers
      task to assign waivers.
    You can use the
    Record Student Waiver Payment
    task to post waiver payments without eligibility calculations.
    Student Waiver Item Rule
    Select a waiver item rule to apply. You can only select a waiver item rule that has a waiver item with the same academic unit as the waiver item assignment.
Workday assesses the waiver item assignment to post student waiver payments based on the amount defined within the waiver item rule.
