Concept: Posting Student Waivers

Posting Waivers

You can post waiver payments to a student's account:
  • Manually, using the
    Record Student Waiver Payment
    task, secured to the
    Student Waiver Payment Event
business process. You can allocate waivers by amount or percentage to different funding accounts.
Workday routes the waiver for approval according to the business process configuration before it applies the precedence rules and creates accounting.
  • Automatically, when you select the
    Assign Waivers
    check box while using the
Run Student Financials Processes by Period
report to assign student waiver item assignments.
Workday calculates the waiver amount and student eligibility according to the waiver item assignment or rules. When the waiver item assignment doesn't have an eligibility calculation, Workday doesn't post the waiver payment.
You can use the
Find Student Waiver Payments
report to view student waivers that Workday posted to student accounts.
Workday assigns waiver payments for eligible students when you configure a waiver item rule with a valid amount on a waiver item assignment with valid eligibility criteria.
Workday doesn't assign any waiver payments when you configure a:
  • Waiver item rule with a valid amount on a waiver assignment without valid eligibility criteria.
  • Waiver item rule without a valid amount on a waiver item assignment with valid eligibility criteria.
  • Waiver item rule with an inactive waiver item attached.
  • Waiver item assignment with an inactive academic unit or program of study.

Adjusting and Canceling Waivers

To adjust or cancel a waiver payment, select
Student Waiver Payment
Edit
or
Student Waiver Payment
Cancel
from the related actions menu of the waiver payment. When you cancel a student waiver payment, Workday unapplies the waiver payment from the charge and reverses the accounting.
