Concept: Course Attempt Limits for Student Charges
You can establish course attempt limits to charge students an additional fee when they attempt to repeat a course too many times. See: Set Up Course Attempt Limits.
Based on the course attempt limit and the number of repeated course units, you can use one of these report fields to calculate a higher tuition to add to the course fee:
- Chargeable Repeat Units by Course: The total chargeable repeat units of a course for which a student exceeds the number of attempts permitted by the Course Attempt Limit for Student Charges Policy of the student's primary program of study.
- Chargeable Repeat Units by Course based on Registration Academic Record: The total chargeable repeat units of a course for which a student exceeds the number of attempts permitted by the Course Attempt Limit for Student Charges Policy of the academic record associated with the course section registration.
When configuring chargeable repeat units in registration-based fees, use only 1 tier calculation to help ensure accurate unit counts.
Your state subsidizes tuition only up to 2 attempts per course. Therefore, from the third attempt and after, you need to charge students an additional fee to make up for the loss in state funding.
