Example: Calculate Flat Rate Tuition (Lookup Tables)

This example illustrates how to use a lookup table and lookup calculation to calculate a flat rate tuition that increases every year, and includes these calculations:

  • Lookup Table
Alma Mater University charges a flat rate for tuition for both undergraduate and graduate students, and this amount increases slightly each award year. The tuition rates are:

  1. Access the
    Create Lookup Table
    task.
    1. Select
      Advanced Lookup Table - Report Field Search Criteria
      .
    2. Enter or select these values:

The calculations are available to use in student charge items. When you assess charges to students for the charge item, Workday calculates the charge amount based on the award year and the academic level of the student.
Create student charge items for undergraduate tuition and graduate tuition and add the calculations to them.
