Steps: Set Up Admissions

You can set up student admissions to enable prospective students to apply to your institution and evaluate their applications for admission.
  1. Access the
    Business Process Security Policies for Functional Area
    report.
    Set up business processes and security policies in the Admissions functional area.
    Security:
    Security Activation
    and
    Security Configuration
    domains in the System functional area.
  2. Set up dashboards and worklets for admissions.
    Configure and enable the:
    • Application Review dashboard and worklets.
    • Student Admissions worklet.
  3. (Optional) Create Locations.
    From the
    Location Usages
    prompt, select the
    Campus
    option for locations that are available for assignment on student applications.
  4. (Optional) Access the
    Maintain Campus Assignment Policy
    task.
    Verify the allowed campus locations for student applications and admissions decisions.
    Workday also uses this policy to define the allowed campus locations for:
    • Student recruiting events.
    • Program of study and course offerings.
    By default, Workday allows all locations with a usage of
    Campus
    .

  5. Access these tasks:
    • Maintain Academic Areas
    • Maintain Course Designations
    Set up academic areas and course designations to use on external transcripts and in educational institution course catalogs.

  6. Set up external transcripts and education test results.
  7. (Optional) Configure integrations for importing external transcripts and education test results.
  8. Access the
    Maintain Student Document Types
    task.
    Add and categorize document types that students can attach to applications other than their test scores and transcripts.
    Example: Add
    Essay
    and
    Short Story
    material types to the
    Writing Sample
    category.
    When you select
    Residency Determination
    as the category, you can:
    • Specify who provided the document when you upload it.
    • View the document on the
      Change Student Residency
      task.

  9. Set up the requirements that applications must meet for completion.
  10. Create assessments for evaluating applicants.
  11. Access the
    Create Admission Decision Reason
    task.
    You can define reasons for admitting, denying, withdrawing, or canceling applications.
    Example: Add
    General
    ,
    Conditional
    , and
    Provisional
    as reasons for admitting applicants to the undergraduate level of Alma Mater University.
    Security:
    Manage: Admissions Foundation
    domain in the Admissions functional area.
  12. (Optional) Access the
    Create Admission Response Reason
    task.
    You can collect additional information from applicants when they accept or decline an offer of admission.
    Example: Add
    Admitted to First Choice
    or
    Insufficient Financial Aid
    as reasons for declining an offer to Alma Mater University.
    Security:

    domain in the Admissions functional area.
  13. Create engagement plans to communicate with prospective students during the admissions process.
    Example: Notify applicants that you received their applications or that items required to process their applications are missing.
