Steps: Set Up Admissions
You can set up student admissions to enable prospective students to apply to your institution and evaluate their applications for admission.
- Access theBusiness Process Security Policies for Functional Areareport.Set up business processes and security policies in the Admissions functional area.Security:Security ActivationandSecurity Configurationdomains in the System functional area.
- Set up dashboards and worklets for admissions.Configure and enable the:
- Application Review dashboard and worklets.
- Student Admissions worklet.
- (Optional) Create Locations.From theLocation Usagesprompt, select theCampusoption for locations that are available for assignment on student applications.
- (Optional) Access theMaintain Campus Assignment Policytask.Verify the allowed campus locations for student applications and admissions decisions.Workday also uses this policy to define the allowed campus locations for:
- Student recruiting events.
- Program of study and course offerings.
By default, Workday allows all locations with a usage ofCampus.Security:Set Up: Campus Assignmentdomain in the Student Records functional area. - Access these tasks:
- Maintain Academic Areas
- Maintain Course Designations
Set up academic areas and course designations to use on external transcripts and in educational institution course catalogs.Security:Manage: Admissions Foundationdomain in the Admissions functional area. - Set up external transcripts and education test results.
- (Optional) Configure integrations for importing external transcripts and education test results.
- Access theMaintain Student Document Typestask.Add and categorize document types that students can attach to applications other than their test scores and transcripts.Example: AddEssayandShort Storymaterial types to theWriting Samplecategory.When you selectResidency Determinationas the category, you can:
- Specify who provided the document when you upload it.
- View the document on theChange Student Residencytask.

- Create assessments for evaluating applicants.
- Access theCreate Admission Decision Reasontask.You can define reasons for admitting, denying, withdrawing, or canceling applications.Example: AddGeneral,Conditional, andProvisionalas reasons for admitting applicants to the undergraduate level of Alma Mater University.Security:Manage: Admissions Foundationdomain in the Admissions functional area.
- (Optional) Access theCreate Admission Response Reasontask.You can collect additional information from applicants when they accept or decline an offer of admission.Example: AddAdmitted to First ChoiceorInsufficient Financial Aidas reasons for declining an offer to Alma Mater University.Security:Manage: Admissions Foundationdomain in the Admissions functional area.
- (Optional) Create Student Engagement Plans.Create engagement plans to communicate with prospective students during the admissions process.Example: Notify applicants that you received their applications or that items required to process their applications are missing.
