job. This job runs nightly as part of the Student Nightly Job Orchestration. Run the

Return of Title IV Evaluation
job completed successfully.

Potential Reasons for Evaluation Issues

The following table outlines common causes for students not appearing correctly or failing evaluation in the Return of Title IV (R2T4) process:
Cause
Solution
A student is missing from the R2T4 report.
Ensure the
Include Official Withdrawal
check box is selected on the report prompt.
A student is only included in the R2T4 evaluation if they meet specific criteria:
  • They must have an active Title IV-eligible award or a loan accepted via Common Origination and Disbursement (COD).
  • They must have had course registrations counting toward their Academic Period (POS) load status at the start of the period, but no longer have them.
Incorrect academic period dates or noninstructional days are causing an inaccurate calculation.
Verify the academic and holiday calendars. Changes require running
Refresh Non-Instructional Days for Weeks of Instruction
.
The student's program of study is not Title IV eligible.
Check the
Federal Student Aid Program Policy
for the student's program of study to ensure
Title IV Eligible
is selected.
A Withdrawal exception occurred because the student met a specific completion threshold.
Review if the student completed 49% or more of a module or all graduation requirements before the end of the period.

Other Potential Causes and Solutions

Cause
Solution
The Date of Determination for an unofficial withdrawal is inaccurate.
For unofficial withdrawals, the
Date of Determination
must be accurate to ensure the return deadline is compliant (within 30 days of the date the institution became aware of the withdrawal). If the date is incorrect, you can manually update it using the
Maintain Return of Title IV Worksheet
task.
A student has manual load status overrides applied to their attendance plan.
Workday stops automatic evaluation for students who have load status overrides. If a student is failing to evaluate, check their attendance plan for manual overrides that might be preventing the system from identifying a change in enrollment.
A student's evaluation returns an unexpected results.
If an individual student's evaluation result is unexpected, use the
Student Transfer Credit Troubleshooting Console
report or similar financial aid audit reports to examine:
  • Total instructional days: Calculated based on standard start/end dates minus noninstructional days.
  • Noninstructional days: Weekends, holidays, or breaks of 5+ consecutive days.
