Concept: Accepting and Declining Awards

After you package financial aid, students can use any of these methods to view, accept, or decline awards:
  • Their
    Finances
    worklet.
  • The
    Accept/Decline Awards
task. Students can access this task through both desktop and mobile.
Depending on the
Student Allowable Actions
configured for the award item, students can:
  • Accept an award for the full amount.
  • Accept an award for a partial amount.
  • Decline an award.
Administrators can change the status of a student's award by accessing the
Total Financial Assistance
report on the Financial Aid profile group of the student's profile.
Students can make these changes before a disbursement occurs:
  • Change the decision from
    Accepted
    to
    Decline
    . When the only
    Student Allowable Actions
configured for the award item are
    Accept
    or
    Decline
, students can't change the amount they want to accept.
  • Change the amount that they want to accept, as long as it's equal or less than the most recent amount they accepted. Students can only perform this action when
    Accept Partial
    is one of the
    Student Allowable Actions
    configured for the award item.
Students can't accept awards after:
  • The loan period for a Federal Direct loan or Federal PLUS loan ends.
  • Declining the award.
Additionally, when a student:
  • Accepts a Federal Direct loan or Pell Grant award, Workday changes its
    COD Origination Status
    to
    Ready to Transmit
    .
  • Declines an award, Workday no longer considers the amount as anticipated financial aid.
