Example: Override a Student Hold
You can temporarily override a student's hold assignment. Overriding, but not removing a hold,
gives the student some flexibility to proceed on an action if they need to do so. You
can specify a date range to lift the hold. You don't manually have to remove the hold
and then remember to reapply it. If the student doesn't resolve the hold, Workday
automatically resumes the hold after the specified time period.
You're the Student Admissions Director for Alma Mater University. Pierre currently has a hold
with a
Hold Reason
of Advisor Registration Access
. The
hold has a Hold Type
of Registration Add
. The hold
resolution requires Pierre meet with his primary advisor.Pierre needs to register for a class before the due date. He has an appointment
scheduled with his advisor, but it's after the registration due date. He requests
that you temporarily lift the hold to enable him to register.
- Configure theOverride Student Hold Assignmentbusiness process and security policy in the Actions Items and Holds functional area.
- Select theActive Holdsreport on the Action Items and Holds profile group of the student profile.
- Access theOverride Holdtask.Select from the related actions menu of an active hold.
- Complete theOverride Detailssection:OptionConsiderationHold Types to OverridePierre has only that 1 hold, select that hold. Example:Registration Add.If he had other holds, you have the option to select which hold you want to override.Start DateandEnd DateThe Start Date sets to the current date.Select a duration for the hold.
- (Optional) Enter a comment.
- ClickSubmit.
The business process initiates. On the
Active Holds
report,
(Overridden)
is appended to the hold. You can view the: - Date of the override and the date Workday reapplies the hold.
