Example: Set Up the Academic Unit Hierarchy for STEM Reporting
This example demonstrates how to create an academic unit hierarchy to support STEM reporting.
You want to configure Alma Mater University (AMU) as an institution with 2 colleges:
- College of Arts and Sciences
- College of Engineering
You configure the College of Arts and Sciences to comprise of the:
- History Department
- Biology Department
You configure the College of Engineering to comprise of the:
- Computer Science Department
- Mechanical Engineering Department
You want to produce a STEM report that includes information from the Biology department, the College of Engineering, and all its departments.
- Use theMaintain Academic Unit Subtypestask to create these academic unit subtypes:
- University
- College
- Department
- Use theCreate Academic Unitstask to build the academic structure for Alma Mater University.
- Access theMaintain Academic Unit Subtypestask.
- Enter or select these values to create a new subtype:FieldValueAcademic Unit Subtype NameReporting - Top NodeUse with Academic Unit/ Use with Academic Unit HierarchySelectUse with Academic Unit HierarchyVisible on Public ViewsSelect the check box.
- ClickOKandDone.
- Access theCreate Academic Unit Hierarchytask.
- Enter or select these values:FieldValueNameSTEM ReportingHierarchy SubtypeSelectHierarchy CodeSTEMIncluded Academic UnitSelect:
- ClickOKandDone.
- Access theAudit - Academic Unit Hierarchy Setup Datareport.
- To confirm that the academic unit hierarchy for STEM reporting has the proper structure and settings, selectSTEM Reportingfrom theAcademic Unit Hierarchyprompt.
- ClickOK.
- To view a diagram of the hierarchy, select the related actions fromSTEM Reporting. On theAcademic Unit Hierarchypreview window, select theOrg Chartprompt.
Build the STEM report.
