Troubleshooting: Academic Plans

This topic provides some of the common issues, causes, and solutions for troubleshooting academic plans.

Missing Course When Creating Academic Plan Template

The
Course
prompt on the
Create Academic Plan Template
task is missing the course that fulfills the configured academic requirement.
Cause
Solution
The
First Available
date configured for the course definition is after the
Effective Date
of the academic plan template.
Update the
First Available
date of the course definition so it's available on or before the
Effective Date
of the academic plan template.
  1. Find the academic plan template that's associated with the student's academic plan on the
    Edit Academic Plan
    task.

Course Prompt is Empty for a Requirement on the Academic Plan

The
Course
prompt on the
Create Academic Plan
task is empty for an academic requirement.
Cause
Solution
The
Effective Date
for the academic requirement is after the
Declare Date
for the student. Workday searches for courses that satisfy requirements and the requirements version is in effect as of the student's matriculation or declare date.
Add a new version for the academic requirement that's on or before the student's declare date.
  1. Review the student's
    Declare Date
    on the
    Overview
report of the Academics profile group for the student.
    Security:
    Student Data: Program of Study
domain in the Academic Advising and Student Records functional areas.
  2. Access the
    Edit Academic Requirement
task and search for the requirement.
    Security:
    Manage: Academic Requirements
domain in the Academic Advising functional area.
  3. From the
    Related Actions
    on the
    Edit Academic Requirement
task, select the academic requirement link.
  4. Click
    Add New Version
    and enter an
    Effective Date
that's on or before the student's declare date.

Unable to View Register From Plan Button on Academic Plan

Although there's courses added to the student's plan that displays
Ready to Enroll
, the
Register from Plan
option isn't available on the
Academic Plan
report on the student's profile.
Cause
Solution
Either 1 or both of these conditions aren't met:
  • The course isn't published.
  • The course isn't selected in the academic plan.
Verify that the course is published and the course is planned.
  1. Access the
    Find Course Section Definitions
report and search for the course section.
    Security:
    Manage: Curriculum Management
domain in the Student Records functional area.
  2. From the
    Related Actions
    of the course section, select
    Activity Offering
    Publish
. This option isn't available if the course is already published.
  3. Click
    Update Plan
to edit the academic plan for the student and ensure that the course is included in the plan.
    Security:
    Manage: Academic Planning
domain in the Academic Advising functional area.

Academic Plan Error: Plan the Co-Requisite for this Course

When attempting to save an academic plan, this error message displays:
Plan the Co-Requisite for this course
.
Cause
Solution
There are corequisites configured for the effective-dated version of the course definition. Workday prevents students from registering for this course without the corequisite courses.
Verify whether there are courses that students must take along with the course.
  1. Access the
    Find Course Offerings
report and search for the course definition.
    Security:
    Manage: Curriculum Management
domain in the Student Records functional area.
  2. Select the course section link that's effective-dated for the relevant academic period.
  3. Review the
    Co-Requisite Courses
field to confirm whether there are corequisites configured for the course.
