Create FLSA Work Period Calendars (USA)
Create the rules that assign workers to FLSA work periods.

area.You can create FLSA work period calendars to automatically calculate FLSA wages and
taxes for nonexempt workers. Workday Payroll then uses Fair Labor Standards Act
(FLSA) work periods to calculate FLSA wages and taxes for assigned nonexempt
workers.
Ensure that you create the calendar you want before running a payroll. You can't
delete a calendar once Workday creates payroll results for it. When you have no
payroll results for an FLSA work period calendar, you can access the
Delete FLSA Work Period Calendar
task to delete it.Don't move workers from 1 FLSA calendar to
another because it can cause unexpected results when processing prior period
adjustments.
- Access theCreate FLSA Work Period Calendartask.
- Select aWork Period Type.When you select theWork Period Type, Workday populates theNumber of Work Periodsfield on theBuild FLSA Work Period Calendar Eventstask.
- Select anFLSA Work Period Calendar Rule.
- Select from the related actions menu of the calendar.You can override the number of weeks in theNumber of Work Periodsfield.Work Period TypeNumber of Work Periods in 1 YearStandard 7-day Workweek5314-day Workweek27Public Agency Work Period - 7 daythroughPublic Agency Work Period - 28 dayWorkday calculates the approximate number of work periods in a year.Example: For aPublic Agency Work Period - 25 day, there are 14.6 work periods in a year. Workday rounds this number up to 15.
- Enter the first day of the first work period as aStart Dateand clickOK.Based on theWork Period Typeyou select, Workday creates a calendar with approximate number work periods for the year.Workday displays the worker's current FLSA calendar in thePay Resultssection on the worker profile. When the worker isn't eligible for an FLSA calendar, Workday displaysNo FLSA Calendar Assigned.
Create additional calendars as necessary for varying FLSA work weeks.
Create FLSA earnings.
