Steps: Create Custom Objects for Allocation Pools
- Create an allocation plan and allocation pools.
- Security:
- Custom Object Managementdomain in the System functional area.
- Set Up: Allocation Pooldomain in the Financial Accounting functional area.
Custom objects are business objects that you create to capture data unique to your organization, enabling you to record additional data for which there's no Workday-delivered field. See Concept: Custom Objects.
If you use custom objects for allocation pools, consider:
- Custom objects aren't effective-dated. Updating the data in a custom object field will affect all versions of an allocation pool.
- Custom object data isn't copied when you copy an allocation pool.
- Custom objects aren't available in allocation pool web services. Workday offers separate web services for custom objects.
- Custom object reporting fields aren't indexed. Using these report fields in report prompts and filter might degrade performance.
- (Optional) Create lists of predetermined options for custom object fields.See Create Custom Lists.
- Create and activate your custom object for allocation pools.
An
Additional Data
tab displays when viewing an allocation pool and you can configure the custom object fields.
The
Additional Data
tab doesn't display when initially creating an allocation pool. Create the pool, then navigate back to view the pool and configure your custom object fields. You can add custom reporting fields for your custom object when you copy these Workday standard reports to custom reports:
- Find Allocation Transaction Lines
- Find Allocation Transactions
- Find Allocation Pool Versions
