Example: Add a Custom Object to Allocation Pools

This example illustrates how to add a custom object to allocation pools.
You want to add custom fields to your allocation pools:
  • A required predetermined drop-down list of methodologies used in your allocation calculations.
  • An optional check box to select when the allocation pool is for testing purposes only.
  • An optional text box for users to enter a contact name.
  • Create allocation pools.
  • Security:
    • Custom Object Management
      in the System functional area.
    • Set Up: Allocation Pool
      in the Financial Accounting functional area.
  1. Access the
    Create Custom List
    task.
    Create a custom list to display in a drop-down field.
    1. In the header, enter these values:
      Field
      Value
      Custom Type Field Name
      Methodology
      Web Service Alias
      methodology
    2. In the
      List Values
      grid, add these rows:
      List Value Name
      Web Service Alias
      Case Count
      caseCount
      Dollars Disbursed
      dollarsDisbursed
      Pieces Mailed
      piecesMailed
      Other Reasonable Methods
      otherReasonableMethods
    3. Click
      OK
      .
    4. Click
      Done
      .
  2. Access the
    Create Custom Object
    task.
    Add the custom object to your allocation pools. When viewing your allocation pool, the
    Custom Object Name
    displays as a section header for the fields you configure.
    1. Enter or select these values:
      Field
      Value
      Workday Object
      Allocation Pool
      Custom Object Name
      Additional Attributes for Allocation Pool
    2. Click
      OK
      .
    3. Navigate to the
      Field Definitions
      section, and in the
      Proposed New Fields
      box add fields with these values:
      Field Label
      Field Type
      Validations
      Display Order
      Methodology
      Methodology
      Required
      a
      Is for Testing Only
      Boolean
      (leave blank)
      b
      Contact Name
      Text
      (leave blank)
      c
    4. Click
      Next
      .
    5. In the
      Permissions
      section and in the
      Security
      area, enter
      Set Up: Allocation Pool
      in the
      Domain
      field.
    6. Click
      Next
      .
    7. Click
      OK
      .
    8. On the
      Activate Custom Object
      task, review and click
      OK
      .
    9. Click
      Done
      .
  3. Configure your custom object data.
    You must create an allocation pool first, then navigate to the pool to configure your custom object data.
    1. Navigate to an existing allocation pool.
      View a pool by accessing 1 of these reports:
      • View Allocation Pool
      • View Allocation Pool As Of
      • View Allocation Pool Version
    2. On the
      Additional Data
      tab, click
      Edit
      .
    3. Configure your data, and click
      OK
      .
    4. Click
      Done
      .
You can now add custom object report fields to custom reports for allocation pools.
