Remove Assets
- Set up asset tracking or asset accounting. See:
- Configure theAsset Removal Eventbusiness process and security policy in the Business Asset Tracking functional area.
You can remove assets that you register by mistake, as long as they have only these types of lifecycle events:
- Issue
- Transfer
To remove these asset types, also consider:
Asset Type | Condition |
|---|---|
Discrete Composite | You can only remove discrete composite assets after you remove all their components. |
Registered from Project Capitalization | If you created multiple assets upon capitalization, you can only remove all or none. You can't remove assets when any of the assets created from the same project asset have an adjustment or are disposed of. |
Registered from Receipt | You can only remove assets for which you either:

Registered from Supplier Invoice | You can only remove assets for which you either:
|
Alternatively, you can dispose of assets when you:
- Can't remove the assets.
- Want to keep accounting records of the assets.
- Take 1 of these actions:
- Select from the related actions menu of a business asset.
- Select from the related actions menu of a project asset to remove all business assets created from the project asset capitalization.
You can access the related actions menu of the project asset in theAcquisition Informationsection on theGeneraltab of a business asset created from project asset capitalization. - Enter an effective date for the transaction that comes after all events on the business asset.
- Complete the task.
Workday sets the business asset status to
Removed
and removes any:
- Posted depreciation.
- Cost tracking activities.
- Workers on the asset.
For business assets created from project capitalization, Workday:
- Moves the uncapitalized cost back to the project asset.
- Makes the capital project asset unavailable for further adjustments.
