Concept: Relative Time Periods
Relative time periods in Workday for Google Sheets stay offset from a saved Report Date. When you change that date and refresh, Workday recalculates which calendar periods appear on the sheet.
Absolute time periods stay on the periods you pick. They do not move when Report Date changes.
You can mix absolute and relative time on the same report.
In the report builder, relative elements under
Time
use the time stratum name and an offset from Report Date, such as Quarter (Current)
, Month (+5)
, or Year (-6)
. On the sheet, Workday displays the resolved labels, such as FY 2026
, Q1 2026
, or Jan 2026
.If an offset cannot resolve to a period in the instance calendar, the builder shows that time period as unresolved. After refresh, that period does not appear on the sheet. Change Report Date so the offset can resolve, then refresh.
