FAQ: Can I create new levels that don't roll up to the top-level?
All levels must roll up to the top level. To accomplish the same goal, you can adjust your level hierarchy. Example: Your level hierarchy looks like this:
- Corporation A (top-level)
- Research and Development
- Sales and Marketing
You want to add Corporation B, a separate entity to plan an acquisition. But you don't want it to roll up to Corporation A and affect your data in that rollup. Here's what you could do:
- Change the name of your top-level to something generic.
- Create a new level under the top level, called Corporation A.
- Make Research and Development and Sales Marketing child levels of Corporate A.
- Create a new level under the top level called Test Acquisition.
The new level hierarchy looks like this:
- Top-Level
- Corporation A
- Research and Development
- Sales and Marketing
- Test Acquisition
Now, the test acquisition won't affect the data of the Corporation A rollup.
