Concept: Adaptive Planning Hubs
Hubs are personalized, central locations within Workday Adaptive Planning designed for users to organize, navigate, and interact with a curated collection of dashboards, sheets, reports, links, and integration tasks. Administrators can customize hubs to provide intuitive workspaces for the users (planners, analysts, and managers) to complete their tasks.
Each hubs includes:
- Overview page: An overview of the key information included in the hub and key performance indicator charts.
- Pages: Core content containers that enable you to display Dashboards, Sheets (Standard, Cube, and Modeled, Assumptions), and Reports.
- Groups: A hierarchical organization of multiple related pages within the hub for easier navigation.
- Links: Customizable shortcuts to URLs that you can add to the hub navigation.
- Integrations: Specific tasks related to data integration that you can display for quick access and management.
- Workflows: Workflow tasks that are awaiting action from the user that is viewing the hub.
Users can designate a specific hub as their home or landing page. See Change Your Adaptive Planning Profile, Home Page, and Email Groups
Administrators can also designate a particular hub as a user’s homepage when creating or editing existing users. See Create Users.
Overview Page
The overview home page includes these key capabilities:
- Text widget: Hub creators or administrators can use this widget to add instructions, timelines, or other important information about the hub.
- KPI Summary widget: You can configure this widget with up to four accounts to track important account metrics.
- My Tasks Widget: This dial only displays if the Configurable Workflows feature is enabled for your instance (tenant) and you have a task assigned to you.
- The ability to see a maximum of 3 recent hubs provided you have access to least 1 hub.
Security Considerations
Hubs respect the existing Adaptive Planning access rules and permissions. Even within shared hubs, users can only view the data they are authorized to access.
- Workflow actions are limited to the user’s assigned steps in the approval or review chain.
- When cloning a hub, to preserve security boundaries, permissions aren’t automatically copied.
Best Practices
When configuring hubs, consider these best practices:
- Grant the Hub Administrator (withEdit Hubspermission) user type sparingly by limiting it to a few trusted users. This ensures that admins retain control over configuration, while business users can interact confidently with the content they need.
- Use group-based permissions for scalability. This also ensures that hubs remain secure, organized, and tailored to the right audience.
- Align the Hub Contributor (withAccess Hubspermission) user type with teams responsible for content upkeep such as finance or HR analysts.
- Regularly review and audit hub permissions, especially after reorganizations or role changes. Consistent governance enables smooth scaling from pilot (LA) environments to production rollouts.
