Adaptive Planning Notification Preferences
Preview Date: 2026-08-15.
With this release, Workday Adaptive Planning users can manage notification preferences by category and channel on the Manage Notifications page. You can enable or disable delivery through email, Slack, and Microsoft (MS) Teams for each supported notification category. Preference changes save automatically. The in-application notification inbox continues to receive all notifications regardless of external channel settings.
This feature is available for:
- Adaptive Planning standalone instances.
- Adaptive Planning multi-instance environments. Each instance is configured individually.
Business Benefits
- Gives users control over where they receive Adaptive Planning notifications, so they can focus alerts in the tools they use most.
- Reduces unwanted notifications while keeping planning activity visible in the Adaptive Planning inbox.
- Helps users act faster on shared dashboard snapshots through direct download links in external notifications.
Changes
End users can:
- Click the notification bell icon and open Manage Notifications to access the new notification preferences.
- Manage preferences for these notification categories. Only the categories a user has access to will display:
- General
- Commentary
- Workflow
- Integration
- Share Snapshot
- Signal Monitoring (displays only when Signal Monitoring is enabled in your instance)
- Select from available notification channels based on your instance type and connection status:
- Email on standalone Adaptive Planning instances when email is configured for the instance.
- Slack and MS Teams when your administrator has integrated the channel at the instance level and you have connected your account in the Connections section. Slack and MS Teams don't display as options until you connect the channel.
- Continue receiving all notifications in the Adaptive Planning inbox even when external channels are turned off for a category.
What Do I Need to Do?
The Email option displays by default. Administrators must configure Slack or MS Teams integrations before users can manage those channels.
End users must review notification preferences and connect Slack or Teams accounts to use those channels.
What Happens If I Do Nothing?
- You continue to receive notifications in the Adaptive Planning inbox.
- On standalone instances with email configured, email notifications remain on by default.
- On instances integrated with Slack or MS Teams, Slack or Teams notifications remain on by default.
- If you do not review preferences, you might continue receiving external notifications you would otherwise turn off.
