Job Postings
Overview
Posting jobs to external and internal career sites is a key component to finding competent candidates. In Workday Recruiting, candidates can apply to those posted jobs. In this chapter, you will learn how to post and unpost jobs, update job postings, and edit job requisitions.
Objectives
After completing this chapter, you should be able to:
- Post and unpost jobs.
- Update job postings.
- Edit job requisitions.
Posting Jobs
Posting jobs to career sites allows you to find competent candidates. Use the
Post Job
task. You can only post open job requisitions.
You can manually post or unpost a job from the Job Postings tab. Use the View Job Requisitions
or View Evergreen Requisition
reports. You can indicate a posting end date. Workday automatically unposts the job on the date you specify.
You can view current, future, and historical job postings on the Job Postings tab. Workday displays historical job postings as read-only.Once you post a job and it is active, available actions include:
- Update job posting
- View job posting details
You can unpost jobs individually or in bulk.
Automatically Unpost Jobs
You can configure Workday to automatically remove a job posting from all career sites. You can configure the following subprocesses with the Automatically Unpost Jobs step:
- Assessment
- Background Check
- Employment Agreement
- Interview
- Offer
- Ready for Hire
- Reference Check
- Screen
When you move a candidate from a stage with the Automatically Unpost Jobs as a step, Workday uses a condition rule to determine whether to perform the step.
Additionally, if you decline (disposition) the candidate at the decision step, Workday skips the Automatically Unpost Jobs step and marks it as "Not Required."
Sometimes your job requisitions may have more than one opening. Do not unpost a job with the first hire of multiple openings. The Automatically Unpost Jobs step determines how many openings remain on the job requisition and uses the following rules:
- If only one opening remains, Workday removes all related job postings on all career sites, including both current and future-dated listings.
- If more than one opening remains, the job postings remain posted.
You can manually unpost jobs, even if you have configured the Automatically Unpost Jobs step. Workday skips the step if an
Update Job Posting
business process is already in progress. If you rescind the
Job Application
business process, Workday rescinds the Automatically Unpost Jobs step and reposts all jobs that were unposted.Post Job and Unpost Job Business Processes
Post Job
and Update Job Posting
are separate business processes. You can add the Post Job and Unpost Job steps to the recruiting business processes. These steps apply to job and evergreen requisitions.Workday delivers the Post Job and Unpost Job steps in the
Job Requisition Change
and Evergreen Requisition Change
business processes. When you edit a requisition, the job posting does not automatically update; you must manually unpost and repost the job posting to view changes. You can also add the Post Job and Unpost Job steps to other business processes.
Business processes that may include the Post Job step:
- Job Requisition
- Job Requisition Change
- Evergreen Requisition
- Evergreen Requisition Change
- Unfreeze Job Requisitions
Business processes that may include the Unpost Job step:

Job Posting Timing
When posting and unposting jobs, Workday uses the time zone associated with the primary location. If there is no time zone populated for the primary location, the time zone defaults to the tenant time zone. If there is no tenant time zone set, Workday uses Pacific time zone.
If you post or unpost a job on the current date, the change takes place immediately on Workday-hosted career sites.
When you enter a future date in the Posting Start Date field, Workday posts the job at midnight of the primary location defined on the job requisition. When you enter a future date in the Posting End Date field, Workday unposts the job at 11:59 PM (determined by the time zone established at that time) on the day prior.
Workday uses the Primary Posting check box to determine the site to use as the link to the job posting for notifications sent by the Refer a Candidate task, and social media share links on the internal career site job posting. You can only select one primary posting site for a job requisition.
Update Job Posting
You can add a Posting End Date to indicate when the job posting will automatically unpost. Use the
Update Job Posting
task to:- Extend a posting date.
- Add a posting end date to a job posting.
- Update the start and end dates of a future dated job posting.
Note
: The Update Job Posting
task does not update the content within the job posting. You can perform the
Update Job Posting
task from the following locations:- The job posting's Related Actions.
- TheUpdate Job Postingtask.
- The Actions menu, in the Job Postings tab of a job requisition or evergreen requisition.
The Job Requisition Change Business Process
The
Job Requisition Change
business process includes these steps:- Initiation
- Review
- Assign Roles
- Unpost Jobs
- Post Jobs
Posting and unposting jobs initiates different business processes. When you change your job requisition, those changes are not automatically effective. If your changes impact the job posting, you must unpost the job and then post it again. Workday recommends you include these steps in your
Job Requisition Change
business process. You can also add the Unpost and Post Job steps to the Freeze Job Requisition
business process.
