Example: Manually Combine Segments for Special Reporting
Administrators can manually combine multiple, already existing, segments into one new segment for analysis. You can combine segments at any time, also retroactively. Manually combining segments is different to using
Combination attributes
, which automatically combines 2 existing attributes to create intersecting segments.A senior leader who manages 4 different teams can see them in one combined view, and can also view them separately:
- Customer Success Consultants
- Commercial Customer Success Consultants
- Enterprise Customer Success Consultants
- Customer Support Specialists
- Go to .
- ClickAdd attribute.
- Give the attribute a name. Example: Custom Report.
- Select theOptiontype.
- ClickSave changes.
- Within the attribute, clickAdd segment. Example: Customer Success excluding Support.
- Go to .
- In the left filter menu, select the Team attribute.
- Set the Team attribute filter to the 3 Customer Success teams.
- Select all employees and clickEdit.
- Find the field of the attribute that you created (in this case Custom Report).
- Click the attribute field to reveal its drop-down menu.
- Select the segment that you created (Customer Success excluding Support).
- Click the small clock icon next to that field.
- Backdate the change as far as necessary.
- ClickReview changes, thenSave changes.
- Go back to and open the employee record of the senior leader.
- Go to theManagingtab in the employee record.
- ClickAdd segment.
- Select the Customer Success excluding Support segment.
This segment is now visible as an additional option in the context menu of the senior leader. You need to maintain and update changes that happen in the original 3 teams in the custom segment too.
