FAQ: Rule Based Questions

FAQ: Rule Based Questions

Can I ask Rule-Based Questions and use the Onboarding or Exit Question set with the question rotation algorithm?
No. You must choose how you want the questions to be asked, and you have three options: Rule-based questions (recommended for relevance), algorithm frequency, or Manual.
Note: If you do not use Rule-Based Questions, employees may receive questions at inconsistent times, repeat questions, or not all employees may receive questions. For better insights, enable Rule-Based questions.
Can I add question timings to only some of the questions?
No. You must apply at least one rule to every question in the set to ensure consistency. For Exit surveys, you can choose between two rule types: before termination and after termination. It’s not possible to bulk add question timings for Exit at the driver level, but you can do it at the question set level. Each question must have one of these rules applied, but you can decide which questions use both rules and which use only one. This lets you control whether specific questions are asked before exit, after exit, or in both cases.
Can I add question timings to other question sets?
No.
Rule-based questions only work for the Onboarding and Exit question sets.
We apply rules to important employee events where it makes sense to ask these questions over time. Therefore, they are limited to employee lifecycle events.
Can we target Exit questions at employees who have left?
Yes. You can target employees who have already left the company by creating a survey schedule with the Left employment status. Exit questions can be configured with rules to trigger before termination, after termination, or both. To survey leavers, ensure their Termination Date is synced in advance and that a valid personal email address or mobile phone number is available. Do I need to use standard attributes?
Yes, Rule-based questions rely on active and populated standard attributes:
Hire date
and
Termination date.
You can change these attribute names to fit your business needs.
For Exit questions specifically, will the 2 weeks before termination rule pick up employees with an upcoming termination within the next two weeks at the time of survey launch? Or does it only target employees who are exactly two weeks from their termination date at the time of launch?
The eligibility for questions is based on the round start date. If you launch a survey round tomorrow, the employee with a termination date in five days will miss the exit questions entirely.
For the question order, is it correct that the order of questions within the same question set may not be the same as listed on the question page?
Yes, that’s correct. The order in which the questions appear in the survey may not match the order listed on the question set page. However, the feature works as intended, and the correct questions will be asked.
