Concept: Personal Dashboards From Manager Perspective
This topic guides leaders on the features of their manager dashboard that also display in employee personal dashboards.
Background
Personal dashboards provide survey participants with insight into their own scores and comments. The personal dashboard also displays the scores, focus areas and actions of the employee's direct manager and the managers above them within the same hierarchy. Employees can submit confidential suggestions on drivers that you have set as focus areas. See more at Set a Focus Area for Your Team.
Administrators can configure employee access to personal dashboards and the level of available insights.
In order for team scores to be visible on personal dashboards, the team's dashboard must meet the visibility requirements that your administrator has set.
Visibility of Focus Areas and Actions
Survey participant personal dashboards display:
- All focus areas that you accept or set on your dashboard. It won't display recommended focus areas.
- The team suggestions box on drivers that you've set as focus areas, and your custom message, if you've provided one.
- Only the actions that you've set asShared with allin theSharing settings, when creating the action.
Sharing the focus areas and actions that you're working on can foster a greater sense of transparency and a stronger feedback culture with your team. Encouraging your team in submitting confidential suggestions can help you collect solution-oriented insights when you don't have enough comments to understand the underlying issues.
Each team suggestion is only visible to the employee who submitted it, and only the manager can view all team suggestions.
If you only have direct reports, your focus areas or actions will display on the personal dashboards of the employees reporting directly to you.
If you also have a wider team (Example: Your direct reports also have employees reporting to them), any actions or focus areas that you set on your wider team's dashboard will only display when employees filter by your wider team in their personal dashboard.
Recommendations
- Set focus areas and actions that are relevant to the dashboard that you're in. Example: When you're displaying your wider team's dashboard, don't set focus areas or actions that would only relate to your direct reports and vice versa.
- Add a custom message when setting focus areas and notify employees, which can greatly increase the amount and quality of suggestions. We recommend that managers convey why they're setting the driver as a focus area, and provide their perspective on it. Focus areas without a custom note display as collapsed cards in personal dashboards, however employees can still expand them and provide a suggestion.
- Add details to the actions that you can create to provide more context to employees when they open the actions on their personal dashboard. Make use of the description, deadline and checklist fields, where relevant.
- If you'd like to create an action that shouldn't display on personal dashboards, selectNot shared on personal and shared dashboardsin the action'sSharing settings.
- You don't need to change your focus areas and actions from one survey round to the next, especially if they are long-term goals.
- When Peakon recommends focus areas, either accept or dismiss them. Recommended focus areas don't display on personal dashboards unless you accept them.
Switch Between Dashboards
Typically managers are also survey participants themselves. Managers can access their own personal dashboards within the same interface as their manager dashboard.
You can click on the
Personal Dashboard
link in your navigation bar. The tabs that you can access within your manager dashboard remain accessible while browsing your personal dashboard, enabling you to return at any time. You can switch between the manager and personal dashboard in the mobile app in its left side menu.
