FAQ: How Does the 'View As This Segment' Option Work?
The
View as this segment
button displays on segments that the user can access fully, as per the combination of their permissions, assigned segments, and existing hierarchies within the assigned segments. Background
The context switcher enables managers to switch their dashboard to a segment that they fully manage. The ability to display a segment fully is different to seeing a section of the segment in the heat map. The heat map displays segments that contain employees of the manager's dashboard, but those segments can also contain employees from entirely different areas, so they don't display fully.
You can can only switch context to a segment if any of these conditions are true:
- The segment is part of your reporting line, such as yourMy TeamorMy Team (All Reports)segment.
- You've been assigned as the segment manager of that segment, instead of a reporting line. The name of the segment displays on theManagingtab of your Peakon employee record, when viewed by an administrator.
- You've inherited manager status of a child segment via managing a parent segment that has an attribute hierarchy. A hierarchy does not happen automatically on Peakon, instead the administrator must manually map an attribute hierarchy. Additionally, this condition is contingent on all employees of the child segment also being part of the parent segment on Peakon. If you're a segment manager of the parent segment, the name of the segment displays on theManagingtab of your Peakon employee record (when viewed by an administrator), and theView as this segmentbutton displays on its child segment dashboards. You won't see child segment names by default in your context switcher, but they display when you search for them.
