Concept: Score Aggregation
Score aggregation is the methodology Workday Peakon Employee Voice uses to calculate current scores and participation rates. Unlike a traditional annual survey, this approach uses a rolling visibility window to ensure results remain reflective of current employee sentiment.
Workday Peakon is transitioning to a Flexible Listening Question model which provides greater simplicity and flexibility to our question model through a number of enhancements. For customers who had their Workday Peakon production instances created from 31st March 2026 onwards, you will use the flexible listening question model unless you opted out.
For customers who had their Workday Peakon instance created before 31st March 2026, you will continue to use the existing Workday Peakon Question model until we make it possible for you to upgrade to the flexible listening question model in the 26R2 and 27R1 release cycles.
Please read the below carefully to understand the impact of these changes.
Score aggregation provides various benefits over a traditional annual survey.
- Enables sampling of questions from survey to survey, while still retaining an accurate picture of all drivers across the company.
- Enables inclusion of results from different parts of the company surveying at different frequencies.
- Ensures that only recent answers for each employee contribute to overall results.
- Responses from former employees only contribute for a short amount of time.
The base date for driver calculations is the end of a survey round. The current score for a company or segment is from the end of the last round.
Score aggregation operates on a per question set basis. This means that the scores and dashboards of question sets only recalculate when you include the question set in a survey round.
Score Aggregation
Score aggregation happens during every single survey round, by referencing all responses against the visibility window you selected. If you stop running surveys, the dashboards don't update even as the real-life visibility window moves forward.
- The algorithm excludes any answers from survey rounds that fall outside of theAggregation periodwindow.
- Answers from former employees no longer contribute to the current score if the separation or deletion date falls outside of theInclusion of former employeeswindow.
- Only the most recent answer from each employee contributes to the current score of each question that they answered.
- The algorithm calculates the average score for each driver and subdriver, for each employee. In the Flexible listening question model, the algorithm calculates the average score for each driver and individual question, for each employee.
- The algorithm calculates the overall average score for each driver and subdriver. In the Flexible listening question model, the algorithm calculates the overall average score for each driver and individual question.
Visibility Window
The aggregation algorithm defines how far back the dashboard searches for each employee's latest score.
- Moving Window: The window moves forward with each survey round and locks when a round closes.
- Duration Options: Organizations typically select a window of 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year (52 weeks).
- Leavers: Organizations can set a shorter window for "former employees" (e.g., 3 months) so their feedback contributes to scores for a limited time after their separation date.
The visibility windows amount to an exact number of weeks, rather than specific dates.
- 1 month equals to 4 weeks.
- 3 months equal to 12 weeks.
- 6 months equal to 26 weeks.
- 1 year equals to 52 weeks.
