What It Is
The Contract Lifecycle Management integration with Salesforce CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) allows you to either embed a dynamic table of quote information directly into a contract draft or append a CPQ generated quote document to the contract for e-signature. This integration works with quotes that have been finalized through the standard CPQ business rules and approval processes.
Business Benefits
- Reduce errors and increase efficiency by automatically adding quote data to a contract without manual copy-pasting.
- Ensure CPQ-generated quotes are legally binding by including them in the e-signature package.
- Make merged documents fully searchable and ready for AI-powered data extraction within Contract Lifecycle Management.
Use Cases
This integration addresses the business problem of manually transferring quote details into a contract. You can:
- Dynamically create a table in a contract draft using data from a Salesforce Quote record.
- Automatically attach a CPQ-generated quote document (PDF or Word) to a primary contract document for e-signature.
Questions to Consider
Question | Consideration |
|---|---|
What fields from the Salesforce Quote Lines view do you need to display in the generated document? | When rendering the quote data into the document, Contract Lifecycle Management uses the fields shown in the Quote Lines view in Salesforce. Contract Lifecycle Management supports these data types:
|
Are you going to display the quote as a dynamically generated table or attach it as a separate document for e-signature? | If you need to conditionally suppress some rows while showing others, you will have to use CPQ templates, which support a variety of use cases. In this case, you would first generate the quote in CPQ, store it as a Quote file, then attach it to the ticket as a file attachment. |
Recommendations
Before you begin the integration steps in Salesforce, create and configure a workflow in Contract Lifecycle Management.
Requirements
- Install and configure the CPQ managed package in your Salesforce environment.
- Install theEvisort Contract Intelligence for Salesforcepackage and configure it with the appropriate permissions.
- To use the Quote Document integration, set the output format for the quote document to PDF or DOCX. The merge process doesn’t append other file types.
Limitations
- You can only add 1 quote table to a single template document.
- The table construct doesn’t support nested tables.
- Contract Lifecycle Management can’t use a CPQ template. You must generate the quote document in CPQ and attach it as a file.
- When a quote is longer than 1 page, the table header row only displays on the first page.
