GPA Calculator

  • Configuration:
    Ensure your GPA policy is configured, as the calculator references it for GPA label overrides, rounding, decimal point precision, and excluded course smart lists.
  • Security:
    Ensure you have the permissions to modify domain security policies and dashboards.
You can set up the GPA Calculator to enable students, advisors, and administrators to simulate how projected grades for currently registered courses will impact a student's cumulative grade point averages. The calculator factors in your institution's specific grading configuration, including course repeat policies and grade point average rules, and automatically populates a student’s active registrations.
The calculator displays the
Public Grade Display
value configured in the
Create Student Grading Scheme
task.
Grades that will display:
  • Only grades with
    Available for Self-Service
    selected.
  • Internal Grade Element (when no Public Grade Display is configured)
  • Grades from the grading scheme specified on the
    Enrollment Access and Grading Policy
    .
Grades with these grade category types that won’t display:
  • Academic Period Withdraw
  • Course Section Withdraw
  • In Progress
  • Incomplete
  • Missing Grade

    Configure the security policy for the
    Self-Service: GPA Calculator
    domain in the Student Records functional area.
    Configure the security policy for the
    Manage: GPA Calculator
    domain in the Student Records functional area to add roles with appropriate access.
    Run the
    Activate Pending Security Policy Changes
    task to apply the security updates.
  2. (Optional) Access the
    Maintain Dashboards
    report and add the
    GPA Calculator Worklet
    to the
    Academics
    dashboard.
The
GPA Calculator
task is available via global search and, if configured, on the
Academics
dashboard. The calculator automatically populates a student's active registrations, including future academic periods, and displays simulated statistics for
Cumulative GPA
and
Cumulative GPA with Transfer Credit
.
Advisors and students can use the
GPA Calculator
task to run multiple simulations and reset scenarios using the
New Scenario
button.
