Create Academic Standing Rule Sets

Create Academic Standing Rule Sets

  • Create eligibility rules or condition rules to determine academic standing progression.
  • Security:
    Set Up: Academic Policies
domain in the Academic Foundation functional area.
You can specify rules to define how Workday determines the academic standing for students by academic period. Workday displays this value in the
Academic Standing
field on the student's academic history.
You can configure a separate rule set for determining additional honors or standings for students. Example: You define rules to determine whether a student receives Dean’s List honors for an academic period. Workday displays this value in the
Additional Period Honors/Standing
field on the student’s academic history.
  1. Access the
    Create Academic Standing Rule Set
    task.
  2. Complete the task:
    Option Description
    Academic Period Types to Exclude
(Optional) Select academic period types to exclude from the rule set you’re creating.
Workday won’t assign an academic standing for excluded periods.
    Status Progression
Specify rules for academic status progression.
Workday looks at the student’s academic standing from the previous academic period as the
    Current Academic Standing
    . Workday assumes
    Good Standing
    :
    • For the student's first academic period.
    • When the student doesn't have an academic standing in previous periods.
Workday then evaluates the eligibility rules from top to bottom, and assigns the
    New Academic Standing
based on the first applicable rule.
The current and new academic standing values display the Workday-delivered academic standing statuses. To view the institutional academic standing labels, access the related actions preview of the academic standing value.
    Additional Period Honors/Standing
Specify rules to define eligibility for additional period honors or standing that you want to track separately for students.
Example: A student receives Dean’s List honors when their Academic Period GPA is greater than 3.5.
Workday looks at the student’s additional honors or standing from the previous academic period as the
    Current Additional Period Honors/Standing
. When the student doesn’t have additional honors or standing in the previous academic period, Workday considers all rules in the grid.
Workday evaluates the eligibility rules in the grid from top to bottom, and assigns the honors or standing based on the first applicable rule.
