Steps: Set Up Student Waivers

Steps: Set Up Student Waivers

You can use student waivers to give discounts to qualifying students.
Examples:
  • Active-duty military spouses receive a 30% discount.
  • Students enrolled in 3 extended education classes receive a 10% discount.
  • Students over a certain age qualify for a senior tuition waiver.
Institutions can assign waivers based on the percentage of a student's account charges associated with specific charge items, and calculate waiver payments based on more granular charge items, like undergraduate tuition or graduate lab fees.
Student Waivers are nonrefundable.
  1. (Optional) Create custom validations to identify waivers that require extra attention, such as undesirable worktag combinations or waivers over a certain amount.
    • Warning validations don't prevent waiver payments from posting to student accounts or creating operational journal entries.
    • Critical validations cause Workday to save the waiver payment in a
      Draft
      status to enable evaluation. The
      Draft
status also prevents the creation of operational journal entries.
To cancel or edit waiver payments in error, access the related actions menu of the waiver payment.
  2. (Optional) Create Custom Reports.
Create a custom report based on the
    Student Waiver Payments
report data source to find waiver payments that are in a
    Draft
    status.
Post student waivers.
