Example: Set Up Eligibility Interim Calculations

This example illustrates 1 way to set up interim eligibility calculations.
Alma Mater University (AMU) has these financial aid awards:
Award Name
Award Eligibility Criteria
Gold Award
Student must be a current Pell Grant recipient with an ACT Composite Superscore of at least 25 but below 30
President's Award
Student must be a current Pell Grant recipient with an ACT Composite Superscore of at least 30
Students are eligible to receive only one of these awards. You want to package these awards for the 2025 Fall semester academic period. You need to create an eligibility interim calculation for the:
  • Gold Award to ensure the Pell Grant is present and the student has an ACT score of at least 25 but less than 30.
  • President's Award to ensure the Pell Grant is present and the student has an ACT score of 30 or higher.
Create these student award items with an effective date of 7/1/2025 or earlier:
  • Federal Pell Grant
  • Gold Award
  • President's Award
You can leave the interim eligibility calculation fields for the Gold Award and President's Award empty because this example walks you through creating them.
Security:
  • Calculation Engine: (Category Segment Security)
     domain in these functional areas:

     domain in the Financial Aid functional area.
  1. Access the
    Create Student Eligibility Interim Calculation
     task.
    Create an eligibility interim calculation for the Gold Award.

     task.
    Create an eligibility interim calculation for the President's Award.

The award items are ready for you to add to a packaging strategy and assign to students. You can check that the eligibility interim calculations are on your award items by selecting the
Calculations
 tab on the award item. The associated eligibility interim calculation displays on the
Eligibility
 section.
Test your eligibility interim calculations to ensure that students are receiving the correct amounts.
