Reference: Notifications for Student Recommenders

Student recommenders can potentially receive several different types of notifications, depending on your configurations.
Type of notification
Workday sends this notification:
Custom notification for the
Student Application Recommendation Event
 business process
Each time an applicant submits an application with recommenders on the external student site.
Workday recommends that you:
  • Use the
    Recommender Password Reset Initiation Unique Link
     report field to provide a link for recommenders to configure their external student site accounts, if they haven't already.
    Once you create a student recommender configuration, this email is the only notification that recommenders receive when a new
    Student Application Recommendation Event
     business process event initiates. Including this report field enables first-time recommenders to configure their external site accounts.
  • Include instructions for existing recommenders to submit recommendations using their external student site accounts.
You must add this custom notification to the
Student Application Recommendation Event
 business process manually.
Password reset email
When a recommender clicks the
Send Password Reset
 button on the external student site.
OR
When an applicant submits an application with a recommender on the external student site and:
  • The recommender is a new recommender who hasn't set up their external student site account yet.
  • You haven't created a student recommender configuration.
System notification for the
Student Application Recommendation Event
 business process
When you haven't disabled system notifications for the
Student Application Recommendation Event
 business process steps, and the business process event initiates or reaches a new step. Workday strongly recommends that you disable these notifications because they’re irrelevant to recommenders.
Engagement item
When you configure a student engagement plan with a recipient type of
Recommender
. Workday sends these emails according to the schedule of the engagement plan.
