Example: Set Up Preliminary Admission Recommendation Policies

This example illustrates 1 way to set up preliminary admission recommendation policies.
At Alma Mater University:
  • Undergraduate applications receive preliminary admission recommendations of Admit, Defer Decision, or Deny.
  • Undergraduate transfer applications receive preliminary admission recommendations of Admit or Deny, except in the College of Arts & Sciences. In the College of Arts & Sciences, undergraduate transfer applications receive preliminary admission recommendations of Admit, Defer Decision, or Deny.
To meet the requirements, you must create these preliminary admission recommendation policies:
  • A policy that applies to Alma Mater University and all of its subordinate academic units and programs of study.
  • A policy that applies to the College of Arts & Sciences and all of its subordinate academic units and programs of study. This policy automatically takes precedence over the policy that the College of Arts & Sciences inherits from Alma Mater University.
  • Create an applicant score scale called AMU Undergraduates Applicant Score Scale with these ratings:
    • Admissible
    • Second Review
    • Deny
  • Security:
    Manage: Admissions Foundation
    domain in the Admissions functional area.

    Maintain Preliminary Admission Recommendation Policy
    task.
    Create the preliminary admission recommendation policy for Alma Mater University.

When reviewers evaluate student applications and provide initial internal decisions, Workday prepopulates the decision with:
  • Admit, Defer Decision, or Deny for:
    • Undergraduate applications at Alma Mater University.
    • Undergraduate transfer applications in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • Admit or Deny for all other undergraduate transfer applications at Alma Mater University.
