Steps: Configure Financial Aid Housing Plan Requests

Financial aid housing plans describe students' projected housing arrangements, such as whether they plan to live on campus. You can configure and deliver housing plan status requests for continuing and incoming students during Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) progression for award years 2024-2025 and later. This enables you to accurately calculate the cost of attendance (COA) for the award year and federal school code.
For ISIRs before the 2024-2025 financial aid award year, Workday obtains the housing status for a student or applicant from the ISIR to calculate COA.
  1. Access the
    Maintain Financial Aid Housing Plan Configuration
     task.
    1. Select the check box for the type of student for which you want to send a housing plan status request. For incoming students, select both check boxes.
    2. In the
      Instructions
       field, enter instructions to appear on the student request.
    Security:
    Manage: Cost of Attendance
     domain in the Financial Aid functional area.
  2. Configure the
    Financial Aid Housing Plan Request Event
     business process. See Steps: Configure Business Process Definitions.
    To deliver the housing plan request to the student's or applicant's My Tasks, in the
    Business Process Steps
     grid, add a row with these values:
    Type
    Specify
    Group
    Action
    Declare Financial Aid Housing Plan
    Select the
    Student as Self
     value to send the request to students only.
    Select these values to send the request to applicants only:
    • Student Prospect as Self (External)
    • Student Prospect as Self (Internal)
    Select all values to send the request to both students and applicants.
  3. Configure the
    Financial Aid Housing Plan Request Event
     business process security policies in the Financial Aid functional area.
  4. Activate Pending Security Policy Changes.
During ISIR progression, Workday sends a task to the student's My Tasks with a request to select 1 one of these financial aid housing plan options:
  • Military base or receive basic housing allowance
  • Off campus
  • On campus
  • With parent
Applicants receive the request upon matriculation.
You can view housing plan configurations by federal school code on the
View Financial Aid Housing Plan Configuration
 report.
After a student completes the request, you can view, edit, or override the financial aid housing plan. See Manage Student Financial Aid Housing Plans.
