Steps: Set Up Segmented Security for Engagement Categories

Security:
  • Manage: Sending Student Engagement Items
    domain in the Campus Engagement functional area.
  • Set Up: Engagement Category Security Segments
    domain in the Campus Engagement functional area.
You can use segment-based security to ensure only appropriate users are creating and sending engagement items for specific engagement categories.
When you configure the
Set Up: Engagement Category Security Segments
domain, Workday automatically delivers segment-based security groups for these engagement categories:
  • Academic Advising.
  • Admissions.
  • Student Recruiting.
  • Financial Aid.
  • Student Financials.
  • Student Records.
You can create new categories to cultivate tighter, more specific security around different categories. Example: You can create a security group specifically for engagement items under the
Event - Cancel Notice
category instead of for the entire
Student Recruiting
category.
  1. Access the
    Create Engagement Category Security Segment
    task.
    You can security segments to ensure users only have access to specific engagement categories.
    As you complete the task, consider:
    Field
    Description
    Name
    Enter a name that maps to a preexisting engagement category. Example: Enter
    Event - Cancel Notice Segment
    for the
    Event - Cancel Notice
    category.
    Engagement Categories
    Select a category that you want the segment to grant access to.
  2. As you complete the task, consider:
    Field
    Description
    Type of Tenanted Security Group
    Select
    Segment-Based Security Group
    .
    Name
    Enter a name that includes the name of the segment you created earlier. Example: Enter
    Event - Cancel Notice Segment-Based Security Group
    .
    Security Groups
    Select the security group you just created.
    Access to Segments
    Select the segment that you created from the
    Engagement Category Security Segment
    category.
  3. Edit Domain Security Policies.
    Configure
    View
    and
    Modify
    access for the new segment-based security groups on the
    Manage: Sending Student Engagement Items
    domain in the Campus Engagement functional area.
  4. Activate Pending Security Policy Changes.
You can use the
Maintain Engagement Category Security Segments
task to review which security groups have access to specific engagement categories.
