Set Up Outlining in Advanced Reports
- Create a custom advanced report.
- Security:Custom Report Creationdomain in the System functional area.
You can use outlining in advanced reports to expand and collapse various levels of data when
report results display. You can also use outlining to subtotal currency or numeric
data. Workday preserves outlining when you export advanced reports to Microsoft
Excel, but all levels of the report display without outlining.
Consider these conditions when using outlining:
- All fields on the report must associate with the primary business object associated with the data source.
- Outlined reports can't display as worklets.
- Outlining doesn't support some languages due to right-to-left formatting limitations.
- When you print to PDF, only the top level of the outline prints.
- Workday doesn't support facet filters in advanced reports with outlining.
- Workday supports a maximum of 8 levels of outlining.
- Access theEdit Custom Reporttask.
- On theColumnstab, selectGroup Namefor theFieldas the first column on the report.
- On theSorttab, select theEnable Outlining based on Groupingcheck box to specify the data to display in your report as an outline.
- (Optional) To group data and provide a logical separation of data on the report, select theDisplay Headerscheck box.
- (Optional) To subtotal numeric data and display the result of the aggregation on the subtotal row of the outlined report:
