Set Up Columns for Advanced Reports
- Create a custom advanced report.

You can select fields from associated business objects to display on advanced reports.
- Access theEdit Custom Reporttask.
- As you complete theColumnstab, consider:
Option Description OrderSelect the order that the fields should display in your report. The first row in the grid represents the first column on the report, the second row represents the second column, and so on.Business ObjectSelect a self-referencing, single instance, or multi-instance field based on the primary business object.FieldSelect the field associated with the business object to include in your report. If you select a:- Self-referencing field on theBusiness Objectcolumn, select a field from the primary business object.
- Single instance or multi-instance field on theBusiness Objectcolumn, select a field from a related business object.
When you select a multi-instance field on theBusiness Objectcolumn, that field displays as a column group heading. Fields from the related business object display as subcolumn headings.SelectCountto compute the total of the detail data or summarized rows displayed in your report and display a value of the subtotals and grand totals. Workday displays a value only on subtotals and grand totals and displays a blank value for detail or summarized rows. When counting, Workday doesn't include detail data rows that make up the summarized row nor displayed report rows associated with related business objects.To count the detail data rows that make up the summarized row, selectOnefor theFieldandSumon theOptionprompt. SelectingOneenables Workday to calculate group totals and grand totals.Column Heading OverrideSpecify a name to use instead of the populated name on this report to ensure that any future renaming by Workday doesn't impact your labels. Workday supports translations for this field on your report and web services.Column Heading Override XML Alias(Available only after selecting theEnable As Web Servicecheck box on theAdvancedtab.)Workday displays a properly formed XML alias based on the selectedFieldorColumn Heading Override.XML aliases must be unique. You can use theMaintain Custom Report XML Aliastask to resolve an error caused by duplicate XML aliases.When you translate a report, Workday doesn't translate theColumn Heading Override XML Alias.FormatWhen displaying numbers inThousandsorMillionsformat, Workday rounds each number independently.To display 12 decimal places when you export reports to Excel or PDF, you can select#,##0.000000000000or#,##0.############for these aggregated numeric fields:- Average
- Maximum
- Minimum
- Percentile
- Sum
The data must include 12 digits to display 12 decimal places, otherwise Workday trails the number with zeros.OptionsAvailable options depend on your field type.You can also select theCreateprompt to create these custom display options:- Create Analytic Indicator, which enables you to use the indicator in other reports throughout your tenant.
- Create Analytic Indicator for Report, which enables you to use the indicator only in the current report.
- Create Percentile for Report, which enables you to create custom percentiles up to 2 decimal places to use in your report. Workday uses an approximate value for currency and numeric fields in the percentile (PCTL).
- (Optional) To override the column heading for a multi-instance field on theBusiness Objectscolumn, complete theGroup Column Headingsgrid.As you complete the grid, consider:
