Configure Box 13 for Employees Who Didn't Elect the Company Retirement Plan (USA)
Security: These domains in the Core Payroll functional area:

When an employee hasn't elected a retirement plan for which they're eligible, use a memo
earning and payroll input to populate box 13 (Statutory Employee, Retirement Plan, and
Third Party Sick Pay check boxes) on an employee's W-2. A memo earning passes
information through payroll for reporting purposes, but doesn't affect net pay or
employee and employer taxes.

- Set up a memo earning with these settings on theEffective Datedtab:OptionSettingWorker EligibilityPayroll Input Exists for Pay ComponentCalculation Details
- Calculation:Payroll Input
- Input Amount Allowed?Selected
- On theNon-Effective Datedtab, ensure that theseGroupsaren't included:
- Adds to Gross
- Subtract from Net
- Add the memo earning toAdditional Pay Components to Calculateon theEdit Run Categorytask.
- Add payroll input for the memo earning. Enter at least 1 cent for the earning.
- Map the memo earning to the W-2 form.
The
W-2 Preview
report displays Yes
for box 13 of the
worker's W-2 form. When you generate W-2 forms, an X
displays in the related Box
13 check box.
