Use Case
Considerations
Business Process
Add to a business process
Automatically distribute a journey as part of a larger workflow. Example: Hire. Distributes to 1 recipient per journey distribution service step.
You can’t distribute journeys to the manager of a pre-hire with the
Support Journey
feature.
Configure a delay on the business process (BP) step. This ensures that Workday commits data changes before evaluating condition rules.
  • At the time of distribution, the condition rules are evaluated against the recipient which determines what they can and cannot see in the journey at that point in time.
  • The tenant’s time zones may impact when the journey is distributed to the recipient and therefore can impact what they see.
Thoroughly test distribution through business processes to ensure that the journey is delivered to its target audience.
You can refer to the Distribute a Journey Using Any Business Process release notes and the What's New feature video. To add the Journey Distribution Service as a business process step, refer to the Business Processes section in the Setup Considerations: Journeys topic.
Mass Distribution
Mass Operation Management (MOM)
Distribute 1 or more journeys to a large audience from 1 recipient to 50,000.
Refer to Create Custom Reports
  • Relies on delivered or custom reports to define the audience.
  • Ensure you optimize the report performance.
Ad Hoc
Ad-Hoc Distribute Journeys task
Manually distribute journeys to a select group of recipients.
To use this task, you must configure the Journey Distribution process definition and the business process security policy.
API
Journeys Rest Web Services (v1)
Distribute journeys from Workday Extend apps or external apps.
Self-Service Journeys
Discover Journeys section
Enable workers to self-enroll in published journeys that fit their needs.
Workday provides these features to support different distribution scenarios.
