functional area.Routing rules enable you to specify which channels and frequencies Workday uses to send
notifications from your tenant. You can reuse a routing rule across different
notification types, saving you time and effort.
- Access theCreate Notification Routing Ruletask.
- (Optional) From theNotification Type Usageprompt, select a notification type for which you want to apply the rule exclusively. Leave blank to be able to use the rule for any notification type.
- ClickAdd.
- As you complete theChannel Frequenciessection, consider:
Option Description ChannelSelect a notification channel that you want the notification type to use.Default FrequencySelect how frequently you want to send the notification.When you selectMutefor a notification type, Workday doesn't send a notification to workers when that notification is triggered. However, Workday still displays the notification on a worker's notifications page.When you add a Customer SMTP configuration on a custom business process notification, it uses theFrom Addressin the Customer SMTP configuration as the sent From email in the notification. However, if you configure the custom business process notification to use a routing rule with the default frequency ofDaily, it uses theFrom Addressin the Default SMTP Configuration instead.Allowed FrequenciesSelect frequencies that your workers can select as their preferred frequency for the notification type on theChange Preferencestask.When you selectMuteas anAllowed Frequency, you enable workers to mute a notification type, even if theDefault FrequencyisImmediatelyorDaily. - (Optional) ClickAddto create additional frequency rules for another notification channel.

section of the
Edit Tenant Setup - Notifications
task.
