Set Up Global Address Validation

  • Determine if you need to access the
    Innovation Services Opt-In
    task to enable this feature. See Set Up Global Address Lookup.
  • Security:
    Set Up Tenant Setup - Global
     in the System functional area.
Workday validates an address upon entry. You receive an alert if the address isn’t an officially recognized postal address.
  1. Access the
    Maintain Localization Settings
    task.
  2. On the
    Area
     prompt, select
    Contact Information
    .
  3. In the Global Address Validation row, select the countries for which you want to validate address entries in the
    Allow for Countries or Regions
     prompt.
  4. In the Global Address Validation row, select the
    Active
     check box.
  5. (Optional) Select the
    Enter Western Script
     check box to enable address validation for countries that use a local script.
  6. Click
    OK
     and
    Done
    .
  7. (Optional) Initiate a review or approval step when you submit an invalid address as part of a business process.
    1. Edit Business Processes
      Edit the definition of the
      Contact Change
       business process.
    2. On the
      Type
       prompt, select
      Approval
       or
      Review
      .
    3. Click
      OK
      .
    4. From the related actions menu of the row of the step you just created, select
      Business Process
      Maintain Step Conditions
      .
    5. Enter an effective date and click
      OK
      .
    6. Add a row to the grid and select
      Create Condition Rule
       in the
      Rule
       prompt.
    7. Click
      OK
      .
    8. Enter a description for the condition rule.
    9. Enter these options in the
      Rule Conditions
       grid:
      And/Or
      Source External Field or Condition Rule
      Relationship Operator
      Comparison Type
      Comparison Value
      And
      Contact Change Event has Invalid Address
      Equal To
      Value Specified in This Filter
      Select the check box
    10. Click
      OK
      .
    11. Click
      OK
       and
      Done
      .
Once enabled in your tenant, this feature validates addresses for candidates, students, and workers.
Countries and territories supported by Global Address Validation may vary in time, and support for certain countries may be added or removed.
You can observe how address validation works by entering an address in a task where we capture address information. Example: Access the
Change My Home Contact Information
task and enter a home address in all required fields.
Workday validates the address and displays an alert when the address needs a correction. When possible, a matching valid address displays that you can use to overwrite the incorrect address fields. Workday displays an alert when we can't suggest a matching valid address. You can attempt to validate an address up to 5 times.
