Example: Group Time Blocks by Position for Calculations

Example: Group Time Blocks by Position for Calculations

This example illustrates how to group time blocks by position for calculations and then calculate overtime for those positions together.
A worker has 3 positions. Positions 1 and 3 are subject to the same overtime rules under a collective agreement with Syntec. You want to evaluate these together. Position 2 has different overtime rules.

 domain in the Time Tracking Calculations functional area.
  1. Access the
    Create Time Calculation Group
     task.
    Create a position-based time calculation group.
    1. In the
      Name
       field, enter
      Positions under Syntec Collective Agreement
      .
    2. Select the
      Position Based
       check box.
    3. In the
      Effective Date
       field, select the current date.
    4. Click
      OK
       and
      Done
      .
  2. Access the
    Create Time Tracking Eligibility Rule
     task.
    1. In the
      Description
       field, enter
      Collective Agreement is Syntec
      .
    2. Select these values in the
      Rule Conditions
       grid:
      And/Or
      Source External Field or Condition Rule
      Relational Operator
      Comparison Type
      Comparison Value
      And
      Collective Agreement
      On the Position business object.
      in the selection list
      Value specified in this filter
      Syntec
    3. Click
      OK
      .
  3. Access the
    Create Time Calculation
     task.
    Create a time block conditional calculation.
    1. Enter these values:
      Name
      Syntec
      Calculation Type
      Time Block Conditional Calculation
    2. Click
      OK
      .
    3. On the
      General Options
       tab, select
      Is Calculated Time Block
       from the
      Time Block Conditions
       prompt.
    4. From the
      Add Tags
       prompt, select
      Create Time Calculation Tag
      .
    5. In the
      Time Calculation Tag Name
       field, enter
      Collective Agreement Syntec
      .
    6. Click
      OK
      .
    7. On the
      Groups
       tab, add a row to the
      Time Calculation Snapshots
       grid.
    8. Enter these values:
      Time Calculation Group
      Positions under Syntec Collective Agreement
      Effective Date
      Select the current snapshot.
    9. Click
      OK
      .
  4. Access the
    Create Time Calculation Group
     task.
    Create a worker-based time calculation group.
    1. In the
      Name
       field, enter
      Shift Workers
      .
    2. In the
      Effective Date
       field, select the current date.
    3. Click
      OK
       and
      Done
      .
  5. Access the
    Create Time Tracking Eligibility Rule
     task.
    1. In the
      Description
       field, enter
      Shift Workers - USA
      .
    2. Select these values in the
      Rule Conditions
       grid:
      And/Or
      Source External Field or Condition Rule
      Relational Operator
      Comparison Type
      And
      Work Shift
      On the Worker business object.

    3. Click

  6. Access the
    Create Time Calculation
     task.
    1. Enter these values:
      Name
      Collective Agreement Overtime
      Calculation Type
      Standard Overtime Calculation
    2. Click
      OK
      .
    3. Complete the
      General Options
       tab:
      Period
      Daily
      Replace Hours Greater than (value)
      8
      Include Calculation Tags
      Regular
      Collective Agreement Syntec
      Add Tags
      Overtime
      Remove Tags
      Regular
      Collective Agreement Syntec
      Time Day Based On
      Calculated Date
    4. On the
      Groups
       tab, add a row to the
      Time Calculation Snapshots
       grid.
    5. Enter these values:
      Time Calculation Group
      Shift Workers
      Effective Date
      Select the current snapshot.
    6. Click
      OK
      .
  7. Access the
    Maintain Time Calculation Priorities
     task.
    Give the new calculation a priority of 200.
    1. In the
      Priority
       column of these rows, enter these values:

    2. Click
      OK
       and
      Done
