Steps: Enable Manual Talent Matrix Placement

Managers can plot a worker's talent matrix placement with the
Assess
Potential
task instead of having Workday determine the placement based on
the worker's performance rating and potential.Alternatively, you can create calibration programs to manage talent matrix placement.
Manual talent matrix placement
doesn't update after calibration completes. It only updates after completion of the
Assess Potential
business process.- Create a custom nBox report.
- Access theCopy Standard Report to Custom Reporttask.
- In theStandard Report Nameprompt, selectTalent Matrix - Performance by Potential.
- Give the report a meaningfulName.
- Click theDrill Downtab, add a row to theDrillable Fieldsgrid, and select theTalent Matrix Review Ratingfield.
- Click theMatrixtab. From theGroup by Fieldprompt underRow Groupingselect theTalent Matrix Review Ratingfield.
- From theGroup by Fieldprompt underColumn Grouping, select thePotentialfield.
- Click theDrill Downtab. Add 2 rows to theColumnsgrid underDetail Dataand select thePotentialandTalent Matrix Review Ratingfields.
- Access theSet Up nBox Reporttask.Map rating values to each box in the talent matrix grid.
- Configure the selection list for theTalent Matrix Placementprompt:
- Access theMaintain Talent Matrix Setuptask.
- Click theTalent Matrix Placement nBox Reportprompt and select the report you created in Step 1.
- Select theEnable Manual Talent Matrix Placementcheck box.
- For each box in your talent matrix, add a row to the grid, define aBox NameandID, select aPotentialvalue and a correspondingReview Rating, and optionally add aDescription. - Access theSet Up nBox Reporttask to specify values for theBox Namefields you defined in Step 3d.This makes theTalent Matrix Placementreport field return the correct values.
(Managers) Access the
Assess Potential
task to select an
employee's talent matrix placement. Talent matrix placement replaces the employee's
potential rating. The Talent Matrix Placement
field replaces the
Potential
field and lists the Box Names
from the nBox configuration in Step 3. You can view the employee's talent matrix placement:- On theEmployee Potentialreport.
- On worker profiles in theOverview,Career, orPerformanceprofile group.
