Preserve Step Progression Dates During Compensation Events

Security, in the Core Compensation functional area:
  • The
    Process: Within Grade Increase
    domain.
  • The
    Worker Data: Step Progression Target
    domain.
Workday enables you to preserve your workers’ step progression date and automatic step progression schedule when they receive a pay increase or face other compensation changes tied to an effective date
  1. Access the
    Maintain Event Categories and Reasons
    task.
    1. Select the
      Request Compensation Change
      event.
    2. Create a
      Reason Category
      named
      Last Equivalent Increase
      , or whatever your organization chooses.
    3. Create a
      Reason
      to denote that a compensation event won't affect the employee's step progression schedule. Example:
      Voluntary Demotion
      .
  2. Access the
    Edit Step Progression Configuration
    task. Navigate to the
    Last Equivalent Increase
    tab.
  3. Select the
    Enable Last Equivalent Increase for Step Progression Date Adjustment
    check box.
  4. Add the
    Reasons
    you configured to the
    Non-Qualifying Event Reasons
    field.
When an administrator accesses the
Request Compensation Change
task, they can select an option in the
Reason
field of the
Last Equivalent Increase
(or whatever name your organization chooses) category. When the
Request Compensation Change
process completes, any compensation changes the employee undergoes won’t affect their automatic step progression schedule.
