Example: Create an Absence Table That Applies a Waiting Period
This example illustrates how to create an absence table to enable workers to enter time off due to illness and apply a waiting period.
You'll create an absence table that:
- Combines 2 day-based time off plans under 1 absence type.
- Applies a waiting period by including a quantity-per-occurrence value that allocates time off units to the first tier for each absence occurrence.
- Enable quantity per occurrence on absence table tiers in your tenant.
- Security:Set Up: Time Off (Calculations - Absence Specific)domain in the Time Off and Leave functional area.
- Access theCreate Absence Tabletask.Create theGMS Sick Daysabsence table to enable GMS workers or their managers to enter time off when they're sick.
- ForName, enterGMS Sick Days.
- On theAbsence Table Tierstab, add a row with aPriorityof1.
- From theAbsence Tier Planprompt, selectCreate Time Off Plan.

- Repeat steps 2 through 4 for the next tier. This time, name the new time off plan, accrual, and time off componentsGMS Sick Days Tier 2 Plan,GMS Sick Days Tier 2 Accrual, andGMS Sick Days Tier 2 Time Off, respectively.
- From theTime Off Typeprompt, select the sameGMS Sick Days Time Offtype that you created earlier.
- ClickOK. Workday adds the newGMS Sick Days Tier 2 PlanandGMS Sick Days Tier 2 Time Offcomponents to theAbsence Tier PlanandTime Offprompts, respectively.
