Steps: Create Customers

Configure the
Customer Event
business process and security policy in the Customers functional area.
You can create customers in Workday to:
  • Create and send invoices to the recipients for goods or services.
  • Manage accounts receivable by monitoring outstanding balances and processing customer payments.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations by maintaining accurate and identifiable customer data.
  1. Access the
    Maintain Customer Categories
    task.
    Configure categories for your customers.
    Security:
    Set Up: Customer Maintenance
    in the Customers functional area.
  2. Access the
    Maintain Customer Groups
    task.
    Configure groups for your customers. Examples: Salespeople, industry groups, regional groups.
    Security:
    Set Up: Customer Maintenance
    in the Customers functional area.
  3. (Optional) Access the
    Edit Tenant Setup - Global
    task.
    In the
    Other
    section, select relevant languages from the
    Enable Phonetic Name for Company and Business Entity in These Languages
    prompt to enable the
    Customer Phonetic Name
    field on the
    Create Customer
    task.
  4. (Optional) Access the
    Maintain Basic Customers
    report.
    Create customer profiles as just worktags for use on adding to operational transactions. Examples: Supplier invoices, expense reports, and projects.
    Security:
    Set Up: Basic Customer
    in the Common Financial Management functional area.
  5. (Optional) Access the
    Edit Tenant Setup - System
    task.
    In the
    Activity Stream Settings
    section, select
    Customer
    from the
    Selected Objects for Activity Stream
    prompt to post customer-related comments.
    Security:
    Set Up: Tenant Setup - System
    domain in the System functional area.
  6. Access the
    Maintain Reasons for Customer Status Change
    task.
    Configure reasons for customer status changes.
    Security:
    Set Up: Customer Maintenance
    domain in the Customers functional area.
