Adjust In-Service Dates of Assets
- Set up asset tracking or asset accounting. See:
- Configure theAsset Adjust In Service Date Eventbusiness process and security policy in the Business Asset Tracking functional area.
Workday populates the
Date Placed in Service
field on assets when you first perform 1 of these actions:
- Register them with theRegister AssetsEIB, specifying a value in theDate Placed in Servicecolumn.
- Place them in service.
- Issue them to workers.
You can adjust the in-service date for a depreciable capital asset with a status of
In Service
or Issued
, provided that you haven't:
- Transferred the asset from another company or worktags.
- Partially disposed of the asset.
- Fully disposed of and then reinstated the asset.
For assets with historical depreciation that you've migrated from another system, you can adjust the in-service date in nonaccounting books only.
To report on assets that are in service and depreciate, we recommend that you filter by accounting treatment, as expensed assets can have an in-service date.
- From the related actions menu of the asset, select .
- Complete the task:
Option Description Date Placed in ServiceEnter the new in-service date in theProposedfield. You can't enter a future in-service date. For acquired assets, you can enter a date that's on or after the acquisition date and not in the future.TheCurrent Booksfield lists asset books where you can adjust the in-service date.Restricted to BooksLeave the field empty to adjust the in-service date in all eligible asset books. - ClickSubmit.
Workday:
- Reverses depreciation recorded before the new in-service date.
- Updates the depreciation schedule on the asset based on the new in-service date.
