Adjust In-Service Dates of Assets

Adjust In-Service Dates of Assets

Workday populates the
Date Placed in Service
field on assets when you first perform 1 of these actions:
  • Register them with the
    Register Assets
EIB, specifying a value in the
    Date Placed in Service
    column.
  • Place them in service.
  • Issue them to workers.
You can adjust the in-service date for a depreciable capital asset with a status of
In Service
or
Issued
, provided that you haven't:
  • Transferred the asset from another company or worktags.
  • Partially disposed of the asset.
  • Fully disposed of and then reinstated the asset.
For assets with historical depreciation that you've migrated from another system, you can adjust the in-service date in nonaccounting books only.
To report on assets that are in service and depreciate, we recommend that you filter by accounting treatment, as expensed assets can have an in-service date.
  1. From the related actions menu of the asset, select
    Business Asset
    Adjust Asset In Service Date
    .
  2. Complete the task:
    Option Description
    Date Placed in Service
Enter the new in-service date in the
    Proposed
field. You can't enter a future in-service date. For acquired assets, you can enter a date that's on or after the acquisition date and not in the future.
    The
    Current Books
field lists asset books where you can adjust the in-service date.
    Restricted to Books
Leave the field empty to adjust the in-service date in all eligible asset books.
  3. Click
    Submit
    .
Workday:
  • Reverses depreciation recorded before the new in-service date.
  • Updates the depreciation schedule on the asset based on the new in-service date.
Review the asset depreciation schedule and adjustments on the
Depreciation Summary
and

tabs of the

report.
